City Attorney’s Office

The City of Ridgefield contracts with Janean Parker to serve as primary legal counsel to the City Council, City Manager and City department heads.

The City Attorney attends most regular City Council meetings, drafts or reviews most ordinances that come before the City Council, and reviews or drafts most City contracts.

The City Attorney also provides advice on city planning and engineering regarding development applications. Legal services to the City also include land use matters, public contracting, real estate transactions, labor and employment law, municipal finance and general municipal law.

Ridgefield contracts with other municipalities to prosecute crimes and municipal violations in Municipal and Circuit Courts and provides legal advice and assistance to the City’s Policy Department and City staff on criminal matters.


Citizen Complaints

The City Attorney’s office has no jurisdiction over citizen complaints or claims. To file a complaint or a claim please contact City Hall.
