Pioneer Street will be closed from 8 PM Friday, October 11 to 6 AM Monday, October 14, between Discovery Drive and just west of 53rd Place. This closure will allow the city’s contractors to install a major stream culvert in the closure area as part of the Pioneer Widening and Discovery Drive Roundabout project.
This is the only planned complete closure of Pioneer Street for this project. Other work will be completed by strategically utilizing lane shifts and flagging when necessary to minimize traffic disruption and delays.
A detour route will be in place along S Royle Road, Wells Drive, Timm Road, S 6th Way and S 56th Place. Drivers are also encouraged to choose an appropriate detour for their destination, for example if you are headed to La Center, consider driving north on Royle Road. Discovery Drive will be open for local access to businesses such as Mountain View Dental, Ridgefield Physical Therapy and Costco from the west. Please remember to drive the appropriate speed through detours and always keep an eye out for pedestrians, cyclists and others sharing the roadway.
