Ridgefield Traffic Impacts

This newsletter provides the most up-to-date information about road construction in the City limits and traffic impacts caused by these projects:

Pioneer Street Will Open by May 1 with a New Roundabout, Center Medians, and Upgraded Utility Infrastructure

Pioneer Street, between Discovery Drive and 56th Place, will be re-opened by Thursday, May 1. When it opens, drivers can expect one travel lane in either direction separated by a center median, a new roundabout at Discovery Drive and Pioneer, and a re-striped 56th Place and Pioneer roundabout with two lanes going all the way around. The outer lanes of the widened roadway will remain closed until final paving is completed in September.

Pioneer Street at Discovery Drive - April 18: The City’s contractor will be paving in and near the new roundabout at Pioneer Street and Discovery Drive. This work will require intermittent flagging Friday, April 18 between 9 AM and 3 PM with holds up to 15 minutes at Pioneer Street and Discovery Drive. Use detour route, or expect significant delays 9 AM to 3 PM.

S 11th Street, Timm Road to Wells Drive - April 19: S 11th Street will be closed between Timm Road and the transition to Wells Drive on Saturday, April 19 for the annual Spring Clean Up event from 7 AM to 2 PM. A new roadway between S 11th Street and S 6th Way will be temporarily opened for one way travel (north/east) to serve as a detour. See map below, click to enlarge.

The main detour for the Pioneer Street Closure will shift to N 56th Place, N Pioneer Canyon Drive, and N Discovery Drive. Traffic headed out of town (eastbound) may use the temporary roadway to close the loop from S Royle Road to S 56th Place.

S 15th Street at S 38th Court (Quail Ridge) - April 14 - May 14: Alternating single lane closures will be in effect on S 15th Street at S 38th Court from April 14 to May 14 to allow for street improvements for the Quail Ridge Subdivision.

SIDEWALK - S 56th Place and 65th Avenue - April 4 - May 19: Beginning Friday, April 4, an extended closure of the north-side sidewalk will be in effect to allow contractors to start initial demo for additional access point to Ridgefield Gateway.

I-5 NB Off Ramp to Pioneer - March 17 - April 22: Night work (after 9 PM) on the I-5 Northbound Off-ramp to Pioneer Street to widen the ramp in advance of future businesses coming to Union Ridge Town Center. The work will require lane closures at different phases, but due to timing minimal traffic impacts are expected.  

Consolidated Pioneer Street Closure - January 13 - May 1: Pioneer Street closed between Discovery Drive and 56th Place from Monday, January 13 to Thursday, May 1. This consolidated closure will allow the city's contractor to complete deep utility work associated with the Pioneer Widening project. Check traffic conditions via navigation map or the project traffic cameras prior to departure to determine your best route. See detour map.
