The first big festival at the new Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex, across from Ridgefield High School.
Experience Ridgefield. Mark your calendars for some good old-fashioned, small-town fun as the Ridgefield School District prepares to host its third annual Experience Ridgefield event. The annual community carnival celebrates Ridgefield’s proud past, prosperous present and promising future. There will be food and craft vendors, informational kiosks, a carnival, a ribbon-cutting ceremony with guided tours to the new schools, and much more. For more information, see http://www.ridgefieldsd.org/
Experience Ridgefield Hours: 11:00AM-5:00PM
Oktoberfest. This year, Experience Ridgefield will be held on the same day as Oktoberfest, which is sponsored by the Ridgefield Main Street association (“RMS”). Ridgefield Oktoberfest is a family-friendly event with German-style food, local beers, and live music. All of the funds raised by the event will go toward the RMS mission to revitalize the Ridgefield downtown area. Oktoberfest, originally a celebration of a royal wedding, began over 200 years ago in a field in Munich, Germany. It’s now the largest festival on earth, with people coming all over the world to celebrate Bavarian culture and, of course, drink beer. But it’s not necessary to leave the United States to celebrate Oktoberfest. Many towns across the country – including Ridgefield – have embraced their German heritage, putting together their own festivals.
