Welcome to Building and Permitting Services, a division of Community Development Development. Here you will find information on permit requirements, processes and timelines, fees, building codes and inspections, and utility connections.

The City of Ridgefield is committed to providing a modern and efficient process for receiving, reviewing and issues building, land use and engineering permits. We have upgraded to an online Permit & Development Portal to meet this goal.

Getting Started with Online Permitting

Step 1: Sign up for a portal account on the City of Ridgefield Permit & Development Portal (you will receive an email confirmation with your access code)

  • After logging in, go to “My Account” from the dropdown next to your name to manage your email & notification preferences. 

Step 2: Apply for your permit.

Step 3: Follow the process, pay & issue your permits online when ready.

Step 4: Schedule inspections.

Permit and Development Fees

The City of Ridgefield provides a range of municipal services to the community including public safety, planning and zoning regulation, building inspection and regulation, water, wastewater, and stormwater management services, street maintenance, and parks and recreational activities.

The Master Fees and Charges document consolidates all City of Ridgefield fees and charges, adopted by Council resolutions, for the various services that the City provides.

Schedule an Inspection

The inspection request deadline is midnight the day prior to the requested inspection date.

For permits electronically submitted on or after 1/1/2022:

To schedule an inspection, please request inspections through the Permit & Development Portal link below. Click here for a step by step of how to schedule an inspection.

*Note: Portal Access Number is required to schedule inspections electronically.  Please obtain the Portal Access Number from the permit applicant.  

For paper permits submitted prior to 12/31/2021:

To schedule an inspection, please call (360) 887-8610.


The following information is needed for scheduling an inspection:

  1. Name
  2. Phone number
  3. Permit number
  4. Inspection address
  5. Type of inspection(s)
  6. Date requested for inspection(s)

We are no longer accepting AM/PM inspection requests. However, if you are requesting an inspection for a concrete pour or are the residential homeowner, we will do our best to accommodate an AM/PM request.
