Volunteer Events

June First Saturday: Big Paddle – Saturday, June 4

The Ridgefield Big Paddle commemorates the designation of the Lewis River to Vancouver Lake Water Trail each year on National Trails Day with guided paddles on Lake River, live music, vendors, and more.

We are currently seeking volunteers for multiple stations at Big Paddle at the Ridgefield Waterfront. The details and shifts are below.

Volunteer Jobs/Shifts:

  • Kayak Check: We are offering a Kayak Check Station so folks can safely leave their kayak/canoe/paddle board while they enjoy the waterfront activities. Volunteers will man the kayak check station and assist with transporting kayaks when needed.
    • Shift: 12pm-2pm
  • Trolley Monitor: The Port of Ridgefield will be operating a free passenger trolley to help bring our guests between our two event spaces – the waterfront and Overlook Park! Trolley monitor volunteers will sit on the trolley during their shift and help ensure riders remain seated and ride safely.
    • Shift 1: 10am-11am
    • Shift 2: 11am-12pm
    • Shift 3: 12pm-1pm
    • Shift 4: 1pm-2pm
  • Registration Table: Big Paddle is a popular event and all participants in organized guided paddles must be registered before hand. We are seeking a few volunteers to assist with check in and registrations in the morning to keep the line moving swiftly.
    • Shift: 8am-10am

If you are interested in volunteering at Big Paddle, please email Megan DeMoss with which job and shift you would like to sign up for at megan.demoss@ridgefieldwa.us
