Ridgefield NOW Looking for Volunteers

Neighbors on Watch (NOW) is a community program police departments can implement to empower and train local citizens to help extend the efforts of law enforcement by being the eyes and ears for safety in their communities.

The volunteers patrol neighborhoods and other areas primarily on foot to serve as a visible deterrent to crime. They are tasked with noting any safety concerns and calling in any suspicious activity in real time. Volunteers also provide extra hands to help with community and parade events. The program helps build positive relationships between local law enforcement, communities, and residents.

Our goal is to have active members in every neighborhood in Ridgefield. Together we can help decrease crimes of opportunity and help our community continue to be a safe place to live.

What We Do:

  • Make a positive difference in our community by being a part of the solution.
  • Help Ridgefield Police by being a visible presence to help deter and report crimes of opportunity. We keep an eye out for the safety of our neighborhoods during our regular walks, bike rides, drives through our neighborhoods, and attending sporting events. We report suspicious activity to Ridgefield Police.
  • Help by volunteering to assist Ridgefield Police with additional manpower during community activities, lost child or criminal evidence situations.
We complete an initial training program including topics such as police policies and procedures, how to report suspicious activity and crimes, security and awareness training, search techniques, and more!
