Ridgefield Police Department (RPD) is participating in the “Pink Patch Project” for the seventh consecutive year this October. The limited edition 2024 patch showcases Ridgefield’s signature sandhill crane soaring above evergreen trees against a sky of bright pink rays. Patches are available to community members for $10 to raise funds for the Pink Lemonade Project, a local non-profit organization dedicated to the education, support and empowerment of all communities affected by breast cancer. City Council Vacancy Appointment Process UnderwayPosition 6 on City Council is vacant effective August 23, 2024. State law provides that City Council shall appoint a qualified person to fill the position within 90 days. The term for Position 6 will expire in 2025. The vacancy appointment process is underway. Next Steps- October 3, 2024, 6 PM: Town Hall Public Forum – Public forum to introduce candidates to Ridgefield residents and give them the opportunity to express their ideas and opinions about what they would do if appointed to a City Council position. Details
- October 10, 2024, 5:30 PM: During a public study session, City Council will interview candidates. During the regular session, Council will appoint a new Councilmember. The new Council member will be sworn in and attend the regularly scheduled Council meeting.
Resident ParticipationRidgefield community members have opportunities to participate in the selection of a new City Council member: - Attend the Town Hall Public Forum on October 3, ask questions during the Town Hall and provide observations about the candidates to City Council via email. The Town Hall can be attended in person, or online via Zoom. Details
- Observe the interviews during City Council Study Session on October 10 and, if desired, provide public comment to Council regarding the candidates prior to appointment.

Pioneer Street Closure - October 11-14Pioneer Street will be closed from 8 PM Friday, October 11 to 6 AM Monday, October 14, between Discovery Drive and just west of 53rd Place. This closure will allow the city’s contractors to install a major stream culvert in the closure area as part of the Pioneer Widening and Discovery Drive Roundabout project. A detour route will be in place along S Royle Road, Wells Drive, Timm Road, S 6th Way and S 56th Place. Drivers are also encouraged to choose an appropriate detour for their destination, for example if you are headed to La Center, consider driving north on Royle Road. Discovery Drive will be open for local access to businesses such as Mountain View Dental, Ridgefield Physical Therapy and Costco from the west. Please remember to drive the appropriate speed through detours and always keep an eye out for pedestrians, cyclists and others sharing the roadway. Traffic Alerts
