Boards & Commissions

Citizens are encouraged to attend and participate in the City Council, Board, and Commission meetings. Public participation is vital and plays an important role in shaping decisions and the future of the Ridgefield community. Every meeting includes an opportunity for citizens to speak on City issues.

City Council

Seven elected members establish policy to govern the City.

Civil Service Commission

Three volunteer citizens preside over the manner in which police officer candidate examinations are held and how appointments and promotions are made.

Parks Board

Seven volunteer citizens advise the City Council on parks planning, acquisition, operations and maintenance.

Planning Commission

Seven volunteer citizens advise the City Council on planning, development and growth issues.

Roundabout Committee

Five volunteer citizens advise the City Council on roundabout center island design concepts for roundabouts within the current and future city limits of Ridgefield. 

Salary Commission

Five volunteer members set the salary of the members of the City Council.
