[ARCHIVED] Ridgefield Police Investigate Suspicious Vehicle

Ridgefield Police Department patch.

On Thursday morning August 7th, 2025, Ridgefield police officers responded to a series of 911 calls reporting a suspicious vehicle in the community, which ultimately led to the arrest of three juvenile suspects in a stolen vehicle, and one suspect still at large.

The first 911 call was received at 6:59 AM from a resident in the Pioneer Canyon neighborhood. The caller reported seeing a male wearing a ski mask driving through the area in a white sedan with a shattered window, and visible side damage.

While officers were conducting an area check in response to the first report, a second 911 call was received around 7:45 AM describing a vehicle matching the same suspicious description. This time, the caller reported the vehicle was parked in the downtown Ridgefield area and appeared to be occupied by four teenagers.

A Ridgefield police officer located the vehicle, a white Kia Optima with Oregon license plates, parked near Main Avenue and Mill Street. A check of the license plate confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Salem, Oregon.

When the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. A Ridgefield Police Sergeant successfully deployed spike strips near Main Avenue and Pioneer Street, but the vehicle continued eastbound. Officers attempted to follow but disengaged when the suspect vehicle began driving into oncoming lanes.

A short time later, another Ridgefield officer located the suspect vehicle at the roundabout at Pioneer Street and N 35th Avenue, where it had collided with another vehicle. No injuries were reported. Spike strips were deployed a second time near the 4200 block of Pioneer Street and the suspect vehicle eventually came to a stop near the entrance to the business complex in the 5000 block of Pioneer Street.

Two of the four occupants fled on foot. Two others remained in the vehicle and were taken into custody without incident. A drone from the Ridgefield Police Department, a K-9 unit from the Vancouver Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted in the search for the fleeing suspects.

The driver, a male juvenile, was located and arrested a short time later. One suspect remains at large. He is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 15 years old, last seen wearing purple sweatpants and a Gray hooded sweatshirt. He was last observed running southbound near the Legacy Trails apartments.

Despite an extensive search using aerial and ground resources the suspect has not yet been located.

At this time, there is no indication the remaining suspect is armed or possesses a threat to the public. Ridgefield Police are continuing to investigate.

Anyone with information related to this incident or the whereabouts of the outstanding suspect is asked to contact the Ridgefield Police Department at (360) 887-3556.

We thank the Ridgefield community for their vigilance and cooperation during this incident.
