[ARCHIVED] City of Ridgefield Seeks Volunteers for Advisory Boards and Commissions

The Ridgefield city Council is seeking dynamic and self-motivated community members to serve on various boards and commissions. These positions are critical to representing the community’s wants and needs in local government decisions. This is a unique and rewarding volunteer assignment that allows members to get connected and make a difference in Ridgefield.

Community members play a vital role in shaping Ridgefield’s future through service on these boards. Residents who care deeply about our city are encouraged to get involved and share their perspective.

Commissioners, board and committee members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by City Council.

All applications must be received no later than 4:30PM on Friday, October 24, 2025.

Roundabout Committee

The Roundabout Committee is comprised of five volunteer citizens who recommend roundabout center island design concepts to City Council for roundabouts within the current and future city limits of Ridgefield.

Time Commitment:

  • Roundabout Committee members serve two-year terms.
  • Regular attendance at meetings at 6:30 PM on the second Monday of each month,
  • Preparation for meetings,
  • Active involvement in the Ridgefield community.

Qualifications:

  • All members of the Committee must reside within the corporate limits of the city.

How to Apply:

Interested candidates must submit the following materials via online application:

  1. A cover letter explaining why the candidate is interested in serving on the Roundabout Committee.
  2. A completed application.
  3. A resume is optional.

Parks Board

The Parks Board is comprised of seven volunteer citizens who advise the City Council on parks planning, parks acquisition, operations, and maintenance within the current and future city limits of Ridgefield.

Time Commitment:

  • Parks Board members serve three-year terms.
  • Regular attendance at meetings at 6:30 PM on the second Wednesday of each month,
  • Preparation for meetings,
  • Active involvement in the Ridgefield community.

Qualifications:

  • All members of the Board must reside within the corporate limits of the city.

How to Apply:

Interested candidates must submit the following materials via online application:

  1. A cover letter explaining why the candidate is in serving on the Parks Board.
  2. A completed application.
  3. A resume is optional.

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission is comprised of seven volunteers who advise the City Council on planning, development, and growth issues for the community. Beginning in 2026, the primary focus will be adopting and implementing Envision Ridgefield 2045, a 20-year growth management plan that has been in development since 2023.

Time Commitment:

  • Planning Commission members serve four-year terms.
  • Regular attendance at meetings at 6:30 PM on the first Wednesday of each month,
  • Preparation for meetings,
  • Active involvement in the Ridgefield community.

Qualifications:

  • Members of the Planning Commission must reside within the corporate limits of the city of Ridgefield, except that up to one member may reside outside the city limits, provided they reside within the Ridgefield urban growth area.

How to Apply:

Interested candidates must submit the following materials via online application:

  1. A cover letter explaining why the candidate is interested in serving on the Planning Commission.
  2. A completed application.
  3. A resume is optional.

Salary Commission

The Ridgefield Salary Commission is a five-member independent body that studies City Council members’ duties and salaries, as well as those in comparable jurisdictions, to set the salary of the members of the Council.

Time Commitment:

  • Salary Commission members serve four-year terms.
  • Commission members meet as often as necessary each year.
  • Preparation for meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Registered voter
  • Resident of the City of Ridgefield, or the Ridgefield Urban Growth Area, for at least one year.

Interested candidates must submit the following materials via online application:

  1. A cover letter explaining why the candidate is interested in serving on the Salary Commission.
  2. A completed application.
  3. A resume is optional.
